Maricruz Chavez

Maricruz Chavez, LSW, MSW, is a bilingual therapist who earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work at Erikson Institute in 2018. She is a compassionate person who has worked for approximately 24 years in various Chicago communities advocating for the human rights and well-being of individuals, couples, parents, children and adolescents by offering her clients a safe and supportive environment to work on overcoming obstacles and improving their lives. Maricruz believes it is crucial to support families with the multiple challenges and risk factors they face while raising their children. She has a great commitment to work with families by providing mental health services, psychoeducational support and resources in the community. Maricruz utilizes a comprehensive framework, she is convinced that in child and adolescent therapy, the participation and involvement of the parents or one of them during the intervention is very necessary. This offers parents the opportunity to learn therapeutic strategies, skills and tools which are very useful to apply during parenting and to improve the dynamics of communication and family relationships. During her spare time, Maricruz loves writing, traveling and spending time with her adult children and grandchildren.
