Kathryn earned her BA in Psychology from DePaul University and was quickly swept into the nonprofit/fundraising world post-graduation before she could decide where her psychology background would take her. Being raised in the northwest suburbs outside of Chicago, she would hear how the media reported on the violence and injustices happening in Chicago and became more and more passionate about determining how to support the communities impacted while utilizing her nonprofit expertise. After moving to Chicago in 2011, Kathryn spent her first 12 years in Chicago working for an elementary school on the southwest side; it was here that she witnessed, among other things, just how much mental health can affect an individual's capacity to show up in the world, be it as a student, parent, or family. A lover of the written and spoken word, Kathryn enjoys writing in her spare time or reading anything that beautifully strings together the written word, most times she does this in between walks with her spoiled dog.
